Briquettes
What are BioFlame Briquettes?
BioFlame Briquettes are manufactured using waste sawdust from the wood industry. This process uses heat and pressure to mould the sawdust into bricks. The high pressure and the natural resins in the sawdust hold the bricks together. There are no waxes or harmful chemicals used in the binding process of BioFlame Briquettes. |
Effectiveness
Wood is a natural product which, when highly compacted as a briquette, almost takes on the burning behavior of coal. Briquettes burn very hot and last for a considerable amount of time. The energy given off by the briquettes can quickly be felt around the home. Briquettes can be burned in any fireplace, stove, furnace or insert.
Environment
BioFlame Briquettes are an example of how recycling can work environmentally and economically. The environmental benefits are that our briquettes are made from 100% locally sourced, recycled sawdust. No new trees are cut, they use no binding additives, leave little ash, and give off few polluting air emissions. These benefits are all achieved while heating a home cheaper than many non-renewable alternatives.
Burning briquettes as fuel closes a natural conservation cycle - on combustion they only release as much carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere as was originally absorbed by the growing tree during photosynthesis. This makes the briquettes kyoto neutral in that they do not emit any more carbon into the atmosphere.
The plastic used for individual packaging is 100% recyclable.
Volume
Since our briquettes are tightly packaged and densely compressed they take up a very small amount of storage space. A tonne of briquettes only takes up a volume of 36 cubic feet.
Convenience
BioFlame Briquettes are light and easy to handle, clean and convenient to transport, store, and burn. A tonne of packaged briquettes includes 95 individual packages of 12 bricks.
Briquettes also burn in a very controlled manner with limited sparks. This added safety of our briquettes also make them optimal for outdoor burning.
